July 6th, 2017Great Adventures Green Island Ocean Swim 2017
Great Adventures’ Green Island Ocean Swim will once again be happening on beautiful Green Island on Sunday the 27 August.
Now in its 12th year, this unique event offers the opportunity to swim in the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef and compete in 1.5km and 3km swims, as well as a shorter 500m distance swim. The event is open to swimmers 12 years and older and a free Nipper’s swim will also provide a great way for under 12s to get involved too. Spectators are welcome to join in on the fun.
Great Adventures Green Island Ocean Swim 2017
The swim takes place on the leeward side of the island with each leg of the event offering a variety of conditions from shallows to wind chop and tidal flow. At this time of year, the average water temperature will be around 24 degrees with air temperatures around 28 degrees.
The Ocean Swim will commence on Green Island, Sunday 27 August 2017 at approximately 10am. Transfers from the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal to Green Island are available for competitors and spectators on the Great Adventures fast catamaran will be departing at 8.30am.

The Great Adventures Green Island Ocean Swim has developed into a wonderful community event and popular swim on the local ocean swim calendar. It is made possible with the support of Surf Life Saving Queensland and the Cairns Crocs Triathlon Club.
