Our Divers Awarded for Safety
Congratulations to our Great Adventures and Silverswift dive teams on winning two of the three awards in the annual Workplace Heath & Safely Queensland Dive Safety Awards.
The Diver Rescue Challenge is designed to encourage recreational diving and snorkelling operators to review their diver rescue procedures and conduct regular rescue drills. Entrants were required to film and submit a video displaying a rescue drill as part of their normal safety practices. Videos provided were judged on the effectiveness and efficiency of the rescue and first aid procedures shown.
General Manager Operations for Great Adventures and Silverswift, Brian Cave, was delighted with the awards and said, "These award are recognition of our dive crews' high safety standards and professionalism. It is a credit to them and a recognition of the work they perform everyday at the Great Barrier Reef.
Great Adventures Reef and Green Island operations won the Category 3 Major Award for vessels carry over 100 passengers while dive and snorkel vessel Silverswift won Category 2 for vessels carrying between 25 to 100 passengers.
Tony Baker, Managing Director of the Quicksilver Group said, "Scuba diving is an integral part of the Quicksilver Group's tourism operations and annually, we conduct over 33,000 recreational and certified dives. Safety is utmost for our operations and we encourage these awards on an annual basis as it allows the staff to reflect and focus on the professionalism.
