Green Island Resort has welcomed new Executive Chef, classically French trained Andreas Greub, who is busily introducing a beautiful new menu featuring local tropical produce and seafood, creating an unmistakeable lasting memory for island guests. Chefs Ahoy - If you’re a fan of the “MasterChef” television series, popular contestant Marion Grasby recently enjoyed a day out at Agincourt Reef with Quicksilver, while famous Malaysian celebrity Chef Wan also experienced a day out with Great Adventures.
Back on the mainland, it was a feast of another kind when we hosted a delicious early morning breakfast for a large contingent of local cab drivers, our city’s roving ambassadors.

A stylish soft refurbishment of Green Island Resort’s beautiful Island Suites has begun, designed to enhance guest experiences with a whole new level of luxury. Available in King (17 rooms) or twin double bed (19 rooms) configurations, all 36 suites have now received new bedding mattresses. The soft furnishings of the staged refurbishment program are scheduled for completion by April 2011.. 
It was a historic day as four generations of the Lone Family visited Low Isles to remember the past and celebrate their family’s history on this beautiful Great Barrier Reef island.
Aged from 86 years to infants, the highlight of the Lone family’s recent Mossman reunion was sailing on Quicksilver’s Wavedancer to Low Isles, where family patriarch Ernie Lone retired as head lighthouse keeper in 1985.
Two local animal welfare charities received a boost with some much-needed funds thanks to the recent Green Island Beach Volleyball charity event held during the annual Great Adventures Green Island Family Day.The charity Green Island Beach Volleyball challenge, with 96 players from 16 competing teams, raised $1840 
A large contingent of local cab drivers, our city’s roving ambassadors, were treated to a delicious early morning breakfast on the Cairns Esplanade, complete with a beautiful sunrise over the inlet as a backdrop. The Quicksilver Group has been hosting the Cabbies Breakfast event for several years as a way of thanking the local Black and White cabbies for the great work they do as ambassadors for our region. 
The annual Great Adventures Green Island Ocean Swim is ready for a big splash on Sunday 26 September. This unique ocean swim on the Great Barrier Reef is open for swimmers aged 12 years and over to compete in 1.5km and 3km categories. . 
It was “pirates ahoy” and a day filled with family-oriented fun during Great Adventures annual Green Island Family Day, held on Sunday 27 June. The annual event has become a popular favourite with the Cairns community enjoying discounted fares and a day of tropical island fun activities. While the charity beach volleyball competition was fought out on the island’s soft sandy beach, the island Treasure Hunt, Ranger Ben island walks and beach games kept the kids (and parents) busy!
Tropical Green Island was host to two world-renowned ukulele artist performances and an enthusiastic gathering of the four-stringed instrument’s devotees at Great Adventures ‘ Ukulele Island Gig on Friday 2 July. 
I was in Australia last week and had the pleasure of going on an excursion onboard the Silversonic out of Port Douglas. I wanted to let you know that I would highly recommend your company and crew to anyone. I was with a party of four, three who went snorkeling and myself who did three dives including a drift dive on the 3rd leg. Every one of us was impressed with the ship, the food, and especially the crew. Very professional, engaging with the passengers and very knowledgeable. Well done! I’ll look forward to my next trip to Port Douglas which will definitely include more dives with you.

Wrasses are perhaps the most diverse group of fish in terms of size and form. They are the second largest group of fish with over 500 species worldwide. They feed on a large variety of benthic (bottom dwelling) invertebrates such as crabs, shrimp, worms, clams and snails. Some wrasses have extremely powerful jaws and can crunch through thick shells to get to the meat within. 
Marion Grasby, one of the top 24 chefs in the recent MasterChef Challenge was seen enjoying the delights of Quicksilver and snorkelling Agincourt Reef. Travelling with her partner Tim, they swapped the kitchen for a day snorkelling with fish.
