Position: Trades Assistant / Purchasign Officer

Location: Cairns

Rate: $32 - $33 ph

Great Adventures is part of the multi-award-winning Quicksilver Group, operating a wide range of eco-tourism cruises to the Great Barrier Reef. Our brands include Great Adventures and Green Island Cruises, Silverswift Dive and Snorkel Adventures, Ocean Spirit Michaelmas Cay Sailing Cruises, and Seawalker Green Island.

We operate a modern fleet of five touring vessels, two outer reef platforms, and dive operations at Green Island.

The Maintenance and Engineering Department of Great Adventures is currently seeking an enthusiastic permanent part-time Purchasing Officer / Trades Assistant to join our team.

 

About the Role

This diverse role combines purchasing responsibilities with hands-on workshop support.

As Purchasing Officer, your duties will include:

  • Processing purchasing requests for the busy engineering department & fleet.

  • Ensuring invoices are accurately coded and accounted for.

  • Supporting the efficient operation of the workshop through timely and effective responses.

As Trades Assistant, your duties will include:

  • Assisting the trades persons with day-to-day repairs and maintenance tasks.

  • Attending job lists prepared by the Workshop Manager.

  • Maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the workshop.

About You

The successful candidate will be:

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

  • Committed to teamwork, safety, and high service standards.

  • Willing to contribute positively to a dynamic and supportive workplace.

Essential Qualifications

  • White Card (Construction Safety)

  • Current Driver’s Licence

  • Knowledge of tools and hardware

  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite

Desirable Qualifications

  • First Aid and CPR certification

  • Confined Space certification

  • Working at Heights certification

  • Forklift Licence
