Great Adventures, a premier marine tourism operator and proud member of the Quicksilver Group of Companies, is seeking qualified and experienced tradespeople to join our Cairns-based maintenance team.

We maintain and support a fleet of high-performance commercial vessels operating daily to the Great Barrier Reef. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and professional environment, both in our onshore workshop and offshore aboard our vessels or Green Island.

We are currently recruiting and looking the following skillsets:

  • Shipwrights
  • Diesel Fitters
  • Boilermakers
  • Electricians
  • Refrigeration Technician

About the role(s):

As a valued member of our engineering and maintenance team, you will be responsible for the inspection, repair, and upkeep of our fleet and marine infrastructure. Your work will support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our vessels. This full-time role offers:

  • Rostered 4-day work week
  • Annual salary of $86,066 

Opportunities for additional overtime on the fifth day Variety of work, both shore-based and offshore on the Great Barrier Reef Stable, long-term employment with a respected marine operator

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on commercial passenger vessels
  • Fault diagnosis, repair, fabrication, installation and maintenance of vessel systems
  • Carry out work efficiently, safely, and to a high standard of quality
  • Collaborate with a team of tradespeople, technical staff, and vessel crew
  • Assist with broader maintenance activities beyond your primary trade as required

About You:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Relevant trade qualifications (Cert III or higher)
  • Proven experience in your trade, preferably within the marine, defence, or heavy transport industries
  • Ability to assess a job, develop a plan, and see it through independently
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship
  • A strong team mindset, but equally confident working unsupervised
  • Flexibility to assist with tasks outside your direct trade when required
  • A safety-first approach with knowledge of WHS practices
  • Punctuality, reliability, and professionalism at all times
  • Previous marine industry experience (highly desirable)
  • Current Australian driver's licence
  • Working at Heights and Confined Space certifications
  • Relevant maritime qualifications or willingness to obtain
  • Must have Australian work rights and be eligible to work in Queensland
