Happy Birthday Quicksilver VIII! We are excited to see our flagship vessel 45 metre Quicksilver VIII arrive in Cairns to undergo a 10 week extensive internal refurbishment along with her annual maintenance service. Built in Cairns and launched in April, 21 years ago we are preparing to give her an amazing 21st Birthday present.
Over the next 70 days the entire inside will be gutted to start her refresh and to modernise with contemporary fittings and a new colour scheme by a local design company. Her facelift includes with new ceilings, walls, table tops, counters, bar area and even toilets.
In addition we will have new carpets, LED lighting and larger TV’s throughout the vessel.
Tony Baker, Quicksilver Group Managing Director said “The Quicksilver VIII upgrade will be an investment of $1 million in this iconic vessel and is the first of several major refurbishments we have planned for 2016.
Over the past year we have seen an increase in visitor numbers and are focused on investing profits back into our fleet. One of the biggest winners of the Quicksilver’s Group investment is our local community. We will always use local companies where possible who understand our environment and can work alongside our engineering, workshop crew and staff implementing these changes and keeping our products to the standard of a five star reef operator. This reflects the Company’s commitment to showcasing our reef products, and it will ensure our passengers have the newest and best facilities available to enjoy their time at the Great Barrier Reef.”
