Quicksilver Cruises Is Up to The Challenge

Congratulations to the fantastic Quicksilver Cruises team on a wonderful effort in the inaugural XVenture Corporate Challenge Cairns.

The team finished equal second in the overall competition and doing both Quicksilver Cruises and our Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef region proud. After eight gruelling challenges from building rafts on Green Island to rafting the Barron River their teamwork and communication skills were put to the test against 14 other teams from around the country. Throughout the many challenges their teamwork, commitment and ability to support each other shone through, staying near the top of the leader board throughout the events.

Our fantastic team members came from Quicksilver, Great Adventures, Green Island Resort and Pro Dive and most of the team met for the first time the day prior to the first challenge. Nicole Richardson, Team Captain said “It was a fantastic opportunity for us to get together and build on our teamwork skills while at the same showcasing our beautiful Region and what we have to offer. We would also like to thank Quicksilver for the wonderful experience in allowing us to participate in this unique event, bringing together the skills we use on a daily basis. We meet some great teams and for our team it is a week we will never forget”.

Tony Baker, Quicksilver Group Managing Director was delighted with the outcome and said “ It was great for staff across the Company to participate in the X Venture Cairns Challenge. It is not often they receive opportunities like this and they all embraced the concept and have grown personally and professionally from working together. We were also delighted to host the first two challenges on Green Island. Our Green Island Resort staff, were instrumental in assisting with the challenges being set up, catering and welcoming over 150 competitors, X Venture staff and film crews to the Island for the first of day of X Venture.”

Well done to all the teams and to team Nivea for finishing in first place with $50,000 being donated to the Steve Waugh Foundation.
