Island Caretaker’s mates experience Green Island Resort

Defeo FamilyFrom Huntington Beach California to Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef, Barbie Defeo and her family have embarked on the trip of a lifetime.

Stepping off Great Adventures’ catamaran in Cairns after a two night stay at Green Island Resort, Barbie was excitedly commenting on their tropical island experience, “It was wonderful, perfect weather and we couldn’t have asked for more.”

Their first trip to Australia, Barbie, her husband Paul and two teenage children have begun a five-week all-expenses-paid trip, having won Tourism Queensland’s “Best Experience in the World”. Her highly sought after role is to assist “Best Job in the World” Island Caretaker Ben Southall explore the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef.

On arrival at Green Island, the family were thrilled to see the reef  – first from a glass bottom boat and then immersed in snorkelling off the beach and offshore.

Commenting on the Resort’s nightly guided walk and stargazing activity, Paul Defeo was amazed at the dazzling southern night sky. “Just amazing and so clear, to see stars like that back home, we would have to go into the desert”.

Megan Bell, Quicksilver Group Media Manager said, “The promotion for the Queensland Islands has been fantastic and for the Defeo family to experience all the activities from snorkelling to sunset beach drinks on Green Island, will highlight the diversity of reef experiences, and also the luxurious Green Island Resort that sits on Cairns’ doorstep.”

In addition to meeting Ben, the Defeo’s will have the opportunity to report back to the Island Caretaker about their adventure at Green Island Resort.
